THANKSGIVING DAY

Have a pleasant Thanksgiving Day!

This is a day to play and pray.

Set your table with a bouquet,

With tasty dishes on display,

On the table in fine array.

Dinner is served without delay.

Your family comes from far away.

With any luck there’ll be no fray.

The talk is like a fine ballet

And everyone will have their say.

No hint of dismay do you betray

And it won’t make your hair turn gray.

Instead you pass the serving tray

And keep on smiling come what may.

You let no chatter go astray.

Each nay belay, each bray waylay.

The perfect hostess you portray.

Your little queendom you survey,

All fears allay, so cares don’t weigh.

Here is peace where you hold sway.

Children behave and do obey.

They go outside to play croquet.

Every guest will want to stay.

(At clean-up time they’ve feet of clay)

But soon enough they’re on their way.

You don’t expect your guests to pay;

This costly feast you can defray.

Their thanks to you they do convey.

Such gratitude they do relay!

I’ve reached the end of my essay.
